Polygraph tests sought for Bharatpur cops accused in Army officer custodial assault

Bhubaneswar, Sept 27: The Odisha Crime Branch on Friday approached the Bhubaneswar SDJM Court, seeking permission to conduct polygraph tests on four suspended police officers from Bharatpur police station, accused of involvement in the custodial assault of an Army officer and his fiancée on September 15.
The court has already approved a polygraph and brain mapping test for the suspended Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Dinakrushna Mishra, who has consented to undergo the procedures.
The Crime Branch plans to take Mishra to Gandhinagar, Gujarat, for a series of tests, including a polygraph, narco-analysis, and brain fingerprinting.
Mishra, along with four other Bharatpur police personnel, was suspended following allegations of a brutal assault on an Army Captain and his fiancée in custody, after they had visited the police station to file a complaint against road harassers. The Crime Branch has now submitted an application seeking permission for polygraph tests on the other four suspended officers—Sub-Inspector Baishalini Panda, ASI Rakmayi Sahu, ASI Sagarika Rath, and Constable Balaram Hansda.
