PM Modi interacts with PMAY-U beneficiaries in Bhubaneswar slum
Bhubaneswar, Sept 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday interacted with beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) in the Sabar Sahi slum of Bhubaneswar, Odisha's capital. His visit marked the final stop of his three-state tour, and he received a grand welcome upon arrival at the airport.
Earlier, PM Modi announced his visit via his official 'X' handle, sharing that he was in Odisha to launch the SUBHADRA Yojana, a flagship social welfare scheme aimed at empowering women and promoting financial independence. He expressed excitement about being among the people of Odisha for this significant launch.
After arriving in Bhubaneswar, PM Modi traveled to the Sabar Sahi slum in Gadakana under tight security. Along the route, hundreds of supporters, particularly women, greeted him and extended birthday wishes for his 74th birthday.
In the slum, PM Modi was warmly welcomed with traditional Anga Bastra and sandalwood paste. He enjoyed the local delicacy ‘kheer’ at a beneficiary's home and offered prayers to Lord Jagannath in Gadakana.
