One dead, two injured in ambulance-truck collision on NH 16
Bhubaneswar, Sept 8: In a tragic accident on Sunday morning, one person was killed and two others were critically injured when an ambulance collided with a truck on National Highway 16, under Dharmasala police jurisdiction in Jajpur district.
The deceased has been identified as Hemanta Acharya, an ambulance attendant. The injured individuals are Gobardhan Jena, the ambulance driver, and Pharmacist Girija Sethi.
According to reports, the ambulance was traveling from Cuttack to Keonjhar after dropping off a patient at Sisubhawan Hospital. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the rear of a truck near Rathia Chhak.
Hemanta Acharya died at the scene, while Gobardhan Jena and Girija Sethi remain in critical condition. Locals quickly transported the injured to a nearby hospital for initial treatment before transferring them to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
