Four arrested in Jharsuguda poultry owner murder

Bhubaneswar, Aug 28: Late on Tuesday night, police arrested four individuals in connection with the murder of a poultry owner in Jharsuguda. The police seized a country-made revolver, 15 live cartridges, a can, and a scooter from the accused.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Wasim Akram, Shahbaz Khan, Imran, and Ijaz Khan.
According to Jharsuguda SP Parmar Smit Parshottamdas, the deceased, Shahjahan, and one of the accused, Imran, were cousins who both operated poultry businesses in Marsalbazar. A business rivalry between the two escalated, ultimately leading to Shahjahan’s murder.
On Monday, Imran, along with Wasim and Shahbaz, visited Shahjahan’s poultry farm in Behrapat. An argument between Imran and Shahjahan quickly turned violent, with Imran firing two rounds, killing Shahjahan instantly. Imran and Ijaz then transported Shahjahan’s body in a car and disposed of it by throwing it off Rampela Bridge near the Jharsuguda-Sambalpur district border in Rengali block.
When Shahjahan did not return home that night, his family filed a complaint with the local police. Imran and Ijaz later surrendered to the authorities. Based on Ijaz’s confession, Shahjahan’s body was recovered from the Rampela Bridge area around midnight on Tuesday.
