SIM box case: Accused Raju Mandal taken into 2-day remand

Bhubaneswar, Aug 23; Commissionerate Police on Friday took Raju Mandal into custody for a two-day remand in connection with the ongoing SIM Box case. He will undergo further interrogation to gather more information.
Raju was recently taken to Ranchi, Jharkhand, as investigations revealed that SIM box rackets were also operating in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. A team of investigators escorted Raju to Ranchi as part of the probe.
The Commissionerate Police have sought assistance from Interpol to apprehend the mastermind, Asadur Zaman, a Bangladeshi national, who is considered the main accused in the case.
A new twist emerged after Raju Mandal's recent arrest when his family filed a missing person report at a police station in West Bengal. Following this, West Bengal police tracked Raju's mobile phone, discovering his last known location at Laxmisagar police station.
West Bengal police then informed Laxmisagar police, who subsequently notified Raju's family of his arrest. Upon learning of the arrest, Raju's family, along with their lawyer, visited Laxmisagar police station, where they were provided with all relevant details regarding his detention.
