Son accused of killing father in Berhampur over ATM card
Bhubaneswar, Aug 19: In a shocking incident from Ayodhya Nagar under Baidyanathpur police limits in Berhampur, a man and his transgender wife are alleged to have killed his father after he reportedly refused to give them his ATM card.
The deceased, Gariba Bandhu Panda (74), was a retired Odisha government employee. The accused, Sandip and his transgender wife Shriya, had recently relocated to Odisha and were staying with Gariba Bandhu for the past few months. Sandip, an engineer by profession, had previously lived in Mumbai, where his wife left him upon learning about his relationship with Shriya.
According to the Berhampur Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), the incident occurred on August 14 when the father refused to provide his ATM card. In a fit of rage, Sandip and Shriya allegedly assaulted Gariba Bandhu, banging his head against the wall, which left him critically injured.
The injured father was taken to MKCG Medical College and Hospital on August 16, where doctors pronounced him dead. The SDPO revealed that the accused attempted to present the murder as an accident.
