Man kills widow and surrenders to police in Cuttack

Bhubaneswar, Aug 17: A tragic incident occurred in Panchagaon village under the Tigiria police limits in Cuttack district last night, where a widow was allegedly killed by a man identified as Kartik Sethi. Kartik, a resident of the same village, later surrendered at the police station following the crime.

Sources indicate that Kartik had been residing with the widow since he was around 10 years old and worked as a maid in her household. On the night of the incident, Kartik and the widow had a heated verbal altercation. In a violent outburst, Kartik slit her throat, leading to her death. After the brutal act, he went to the Tigiria police station and confessed to the crime, where he was subsequently detained.

The police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination and are investigating the motives behind the murder. Preliminary sources suggest that a property dispute may have been the underlying cause of the crime.
