Prime Accused In Pramodini Roul Acid Attack Case Gets 14-Year RI
The Assistant Sessions Judge (Women’s Court), Jagatsinghpur, today sentenced prime accused Santosh Kumar Bedanta and Biswajit Dalsinghray alias Anil, to 14 years of imprisonment in 2009 Pramodini Roul acid attack case. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 on each.
During hearing of the case husband Saroj Sahu and her mother were present inside the courtroom today.
Notably, Santosh threw acid on Pramodini over a one-sided love affair while she was returning to her uncle’s house at Tirtol on April 18, 2009. Pramodini, who was only 16-year-old, She suffered 80 percent burns and lost her vision. She was in ICU for around nine months and spent a painful life for five years in hospitals in Cuttack.
Earlier a special team of Jagatsinghpur police arrested the prime accused of the crime, Santosh Bedanta, an Indian Army Jawan posted at Kupwara in Jammu & Kashmir, from Kolkata, and his aide Biswajit Dalsinghray was nabbed from Nayagarh.
