SCB Medical College house surgeons strike over misbehavior allegations

Bhubaneswar, July 17: Healthcare services at SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack have been severely impacted as over 250 house surgeons have gone on strike, halting all work.
Led by Saswat Mohanty and Ganesh Behera, the house surgeons staged a protest in front of the SCB Superintendent's office, alleging misbehavior by a nursing officer.
The house surgeons claim that despite repeated complaints about the nursing officer's misbehavior towards surgeons, the hospital authorities have failed to take any action. This inaction prompted the strike.
The protesting house surgeons submitted a memorandum to the SCB Superintendent, demanding action against the nursing officer for her misconduct.
Saswat Mohanty, President of the House Surgeons’ Union, stated, “We are demanding the immediate transfer of the nursing officer against whom we have lodged a misbehavior complaint. Additionally, we request the issuance of a directive regarding the roles of house surgeons and nursing officers. We regret that healthcare services have been disrupted due to our strike. If our demands are not met promptly, we will withdraw from emergency duty.”
