Ratna Bhandar's inner chamber to open on May 18

Bhubaneswar, July 16: The inner chamber of Ratna Bhandar will be reopened on May 18, as announced by Justice Biswanath Rath, chairman of the Ratna Bhandar inventorisation committee, following an emergency meeting today.

“The inner chamber of the treasure trove will reopen on Thursday, as it cannot be opened tomorrow due to Suna Besha. An auspicious time has been chosen for its reopening. The inner treasure trove door will be opened between 9:51 am and 12:15 pm. Once the inner chamber is reopened, the process of shifting valuables will take place. Attention will be paid to ensure that there are no obstacles in the way of the rituals,” said Rath.

Rath further stated, “When the Ratna Bhandar is opened on Thursday, devotees will not be allowed to enter the temple. Only authorized servants and individuals who have been granted permission to enter the treasure trove will be allowed during this time. This restriction is in place to ensure the safety and security of the treasure trove and its contents.”

It is worth mentioning that the ‘Ratna Bhandar’ was previously opened in the presence of former Orissa High Court judge Biswanath Rath, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, chief administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), DB Gadanayak, superintendent of the ASI, and a representative of the titular king, Gajapati Maharaja of Puri.
