Commissionerate Police announces traffic restrictions for Durga idol immersion tomorrow
Bhubaneswar, Oct 21: Traffic restrictions will be enforced across several parts of Bhubaneswar on Thursday for the smooth conduct of the Durga idol immersion procession, locally known as Bhasani Yatra. The procession will follow the conclusion of Dussehra celebrations, with Ravana Dahan scheduled for Wednesday evening.
The Commissionerate Police has identified four routes for the immersion processions organised by Shaheed Nagar, Nayapalli, Chandrasekharpur and Old Town Bhasani committees. The restrictions will remain in force from 2 pm on Thursday until 1 am or the conclusion of the procession, as applicable.
Idols under the Shaheed Nagar committee will assemble at Shaheed Nagar and proceed via Ram Mandir and Master Canteen squares towards Rajmahal Square. Vehicle movement on Janpath Road will remain prohibited during the procession. Commuters can use Sachivalaya Marg and adjoining roads.
The Nayapalli procession will move via Nayapalli Underpass, CRP Square, DAV Square, Gopabandhu Square and Siripur Square. Vehicles travelling from CRP Square towards Cuttack will be diverted towards Jayadev Vihar via Ekamra Park Road.
The Chandrasekharpur procession will assemble at Damana Square and proceed towards NALCO Square. Further restrictions will apply along designated procession routes. Commuters are advised to follow police directions and use alternative roads to avoid congestion.
