Elderly woman dies after dumper crashes into house in Mayurbhanj
Bhubaneswar, July 6: An elderly woman died after a dumper crashed into her house in Purunapani village under Rairangpur police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Saturday.
According to sources, the incident occurred when the lorry rammed into the house on National Highway 220. The deceased, identified as 65-year-old Kamala Patra, was critically injured when the debris of the wall fell on her as she slept.
Kamala was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead. Tension escalated as villagers and relatives of the deceased blocked traffic on the highway, demanding compensation.
Upon receiving a tip-off, Rairangpur Town police arrived at the scene to calm the agitated kin and villagers.
As of the last report, vehicular movement remained disrupted on both sides, causing significant inconvenience to commuters.
