Three Nayagarh police officials suspended for dereliction of duty

Bhubaneswar, July 3: Nayagarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul Jain has suspended three police officials, including Sub-inspector (SI) Hasina Pradhan, Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Rajeswari Nayak, and constable Purnachandra Mohapatra of Nayagarh Sadar Police Station, on charges of dereliction of duty.
The suspension follows allegations that the officers instructed complainants to return home instead of filing their complaints, thus neglecting their responsibilities.
Sources reported a series of thefts in Golagola village, under the jurisdiction of Sadar police station, on Monday night. The victims, who reportedly lost ornaments worth Rs 20 lakh, rushed to the Sadar police station to file their complaints. However, instead of registering the complaints and taking prompt action, the on-duty officers allegedly told the victims to return and file FIRs the next morning, delaying the investigation and response to the thefts.
