Minor boy apprehended for triple homicide in Bhadrak
Bhubaneswar, June 20: A day after police apprehended a minor boy on suspicion of murdering a woman and her minor daughter in Raimani village, Bhadrak district, the body of an elderly woman was discovered at the crime scene.
The recovery of the third body has led to the minor boy being accused of committing three murders. The elderly woman has been identified as the boy’s grandmother, Sumati Munda.
During police interrogation, the boy confessed to murdering all three victims.
Police sources revealed that the bodies of Mini Munda (7) and her mother Sukanti Munda (35) from Ganijang Hasinpur Adivasi Sahi, under Bhadrak rural police station, were found on Wednesday. Sukanti's body was discovered in Baniagudi forest, while Mini's body was located under a bridge. Locals found the minor boy sitting next to Sukanti's body.
The boy confessed during interrogation to having raped Sukanti before hacking her to death. He then killed Mini, the sole witness, in the same manner. Locals detained the boy as he attempted to flee and handed him over to the police.
Following the boy's confession, police recovered Sumati's body on Thursday and sent it for post-mortem examination. The boy reportedly strangled his grandmother with a saree after she refused to give him cash.
