Odisha signs MoU to create overseas employment for skilled drivers

Bhubaneswar, June 19: The Commerce & Transport Department of the Odisha government has advanced efforts to create employment opportunities for skilled drivers in the state.
According to an official press release, Commissioner of State Transport Authority (STA) Amitabh Thakur signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with HR Navis Chairman Rajkumar Sambandam on Tuesday, in the presence of Principal Secretary of Commerce and Transport Department Usha Padhee.
This MoU opens up employment opportunities in Japan for drivers trained under the Subahaka Yojana.
The Odisha government has established free Heavy Vehicle Driving Training Centres at four locations in the state under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. This initiative aims to enhance road safety.
The training centres are located in Palur (Ganjam district), Bonai (Sundargarh district), Chhatia (Jajpur district), and Keonjhar. These centres offer eligible individuals free training with state-of-the-art facilities, food, accommodation, allowances, and driving licenses—a rare combination nationwide.
The STA is committed to securing employment for drivers successfully trained at these centres. Navis HR, a leading agency in India for providing overseas employment, plays a crucial role in this initiative.
