Cyclonic storm 'Rimal' to impact Odisha with rainfall

Bhubaneswar, May 25: A depression over the central Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm named 'Rimal', with Odisha likely to experience rainfall, according to reports on Saturday. The Meteorological Department indicated that the low pressure area will develop into a deep depression and subsequently into a storm.
The storm 'Rimal' is predicted to become a severe cyclonic storm by tomorrow. It is expected to make landfall between West Bengal and Khepupara in Bangladesh by midnight tomorrow, with wind speeds reaching up to 135 km per hour at the time of landfall.
While Cyclone Rimal is not anticipated to have a direct impact on Odisha, the state is likely to see rainfall. North-coastal Odisha may experience changes in weather, with wind speeds ranging from 40 to 50 km per hour. The weather department has warned of rough seas along the North Odisha coast from this evening until May 27.
In response, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has alerted the District Magistrates of Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj about the potential for heavy rain.
