Mystery surrounds death of Sonepur Reserve Police constable in Balangir hotel

Bhubaneswar, May 18: A police personnel, identified as Shankarbhanu Behera, was discovered dead under mysterious circumstances in a hotel room in Balangir on Friday.
Behera, employed as a constable in Sonepur Reserve Police, had traveled from Sonepur to Balangir in his car on May 11 but failed to return home. His body was found with his hands and legs tied inside a hotel room near Balangir Railway Station.
Upon receiving the information, Balangir Town police initiated an investigation into the incident and the body was sent for post-mortem examination.
Police suspect foul play and are investigating the possibility that Behera was murdered by someone inside the hotel room. Sources reveal that the room was booked by Vineet Sharma from Dhanbad, Jharkhand, who has been missing since the incident. It is suspected that Sharma may have killed Behera after restraining him in the hotel room.
While the exact motive behind the suspected murder remains unclear, speculation suggests a possible connection to the ganja trade.
