Youth murders lender over unpaid loan in Kalahandi

Bhubaneswar, May 17: In Kalahandi district's Kesinga Bhanarmal, a youth allegedly stabbed another to death on Friday after failing to repay a loan. The victim, identified as Biranchi Nayak of Paralsingha, was killed by Jitu Gouda, a resident of the same area.
According to reports, Biranchi had lent money to Jitu when he was searching for a job. However, when Biranchi asked for the repayment, Jitu began avoiding him. Persistent demands from Biranchi led Jitu to devise a plan to eliminate him.
On May 12, Jitu invited Biranchi out for a drink. After making Biranchi drink heavily, Jitu tied his hands and feet before stabbing him multiple times. Once Biranchi was dead, Jitu concealed the body in his house. Following his plan, Jitu later disposed of the body in a nearby canal during the night of May 13.
During the investigation, police interrogated Jitu, who confessed to the crime. Based on his confession, Jitu was arrested and taken to court.
Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sandip Patil informed the media, "Biranchi had given Rs 10,000 to Jitu. When Biranchi asked for the money back, it angered Jitu, prompting him to plan and execute the murder on May 12. The accused has confessed to his crime during the investigation after a crime recreation."
