Berhampur, May 8: As many as five youths have been apprehended for allegedly gang-raping a minor girl in Berhampur City, Odisha's Ganjam district, a few days ago.

The victim, a Plus Two student, was reportedly near the New Bus Stand of the city on May 3 for errands when an acquaintance lured her to his room. There, she was given cold drinks spiked with drugs before being assaulted by him and four of his accomplices.

Upon returning home, the girl promptly informed her family about the assault. They filed a complaint at the Baidyanathpur Police Station, urging swift action against the perpetrators.

Responding to the complaint, authorities swiftly arrested the main suspect. Subsequently, based on information provided by him, four other individuals were also apprehended.

The survivor's statement was recorded by the police, and she underwent a medical examination at MKCG Medical College and Hospital, as per legal procedures. The arrested individuals also underwent medical examinations.

As investigations into the gang rape continue, the incident has sent shockwaves through the Silk City of the State.
