Three arrested for impersonating police, robbing businessman in Odisha

Cuttack, April 29: Badambadi police have apprehended three individuals for masquerading as police officers and looting Rs 2.75 lakh from a businessman's residence in Aul, Kendrapara district.
Exploiting the heightened security measures during elections, the trio allegedly posed as law enforcement officials and conducted a raid on April 19th, making off with the substantial sum. Additionally, they are suspected of another robbery amounting to Rs 30,000 in the Badambadi area of Cuttack.
An ongoing investigation seeks to unravel further details surrounding the incidents. In a similar occurrence earlier this month, Bhubaneswar's Commissionerate police arrested a gang operating under false police identities. The group, comprised of seven members from Madhya Pradesh, had been orchestrating robberies in Bhubaneswar and other states, including Odisha, over the past few months.
Their modus operandi involved impersonating various law enforcement agencies such as the CBI and Customs, brandishing counterfeit identity cards to carry out their illicit activities.
