Odisha Police seal Chhattisgarh borders following naxal encounter

Bhubaneswar, April 17: Following a fierce gunbattle in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district resulting in the demise of 29 naxals, Odisha police have taken decisive measures. Today, they sealed all entry and exit points to Chhattisgarh, including the road connecting the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border.
Security forces have escalated search operations and patrols across sensitive locations within the state, maintaining vigilance over Maoist hideouts along the border regions. Collaborating closely, Chhattisgarh police and their Odisha counterparts have exchanged crucial intelligence inputs.
In a proactive move, entry and exit points of four border districts – Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nuapada – have been sealed. This action comes amidst expectations of ultras seeking refuge in Odisha's forests following substantial losses in Chhattisgarh, as stated by ADG (Operation) Devidutta Singh.
Odisha police, in conjunction with BSF, SOG, DVF, and CRPF, are on high alert to address any potential adversities. Security forces are employing night binoculars and drones to closely monitor border areas.
