Arabinda Dhali to challenge disqualification as Odisha MLA, alleges partisan decision

Bhubaneswar, April 13: Senior leader Arabinda Dhali denounced his disqualification as an Odisha MLA, denoting it as unjust and biased. Dhali asserted his intention to pursue legal recourse against the decision of the Assembly Speaker, affirming this during discussions with reporters at a BJP event in Bhubaneswar.
Formerly representing the Jaydev Assembly constituency, Dhali's disqualification occurred three days prior, subsequent to his departure from the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the state's dual elections. He has been nominated as the BJP candidate for the Jaydev Assembly seat in the upcoming elections.
Expressing his belief that his Assembly membership was revoked with underlying motives, Dhali criticized the action as being taken in a biased manner. He highlighted the disparity in treatment, noting that only those who shifted allegiance from BJD to BJP faced disqualification, while others were exempt from such consequences.
