BJD MLA's son faces intensive ED interrogation in land case

Bhubaneswar, March 6: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) subjected Prayaskanti Samal, son of Prafulla Samal, the BJD MLA from Bhandaripokhri in Odisha’s Bhadrak district, to an intensive interrogation lasting approximately 18 hours, commencing at 10:30 am on Tuesday and concluding around 4:30 am on Thursday.
Contrary to reports, Prayaskanti denied undergoing questioning for over 18 hours, stating, “I was not asked anything. I shall meet you soon and reveal the details,” during an interaction with the media today.
Meanwhile, it has been disclosed that Prayaskanti was grilled by three teams, including a scientific team from the Enforcement Directorate, regarding the Barpada Engineering College land case. However, reports suggest Prayaskanti was uncooperative during the interrogation.
The ED officials had previously conducted raids on 10 locations associated with Samal on February 15, pertaining to an alleged land scam involving Barapada Engineering College. During the raids, a high-end car and Rs 10 lakh cash were seized from Prayaskanti’s residence.
Furthermore, on February 28, Prafulla Samal was summoned by ED officials in Bhubaneswar and interrogated for eight hours.
