Six artists from Odisha selected for Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards

Bhubaneswar, Feb 29: Six artists hailing from Odisha are set to be honored with the esteemed Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards for the years 2022 and 2023.
In 2023, Sangita Gosain, a distinguished vocalist and scholar renowned for her contributions to Odissi music, will be recognized for her outstanding achievements. Similarly, Snehaprava Samantaray, a former lecturer at Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, will be bestowed with the Akademi Award for her excellence in Odissi dance during the same year.
Debasish Pattnaik will be the recipient of the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar-2023, acknowledging his promising strides in Odissi dance as a young artist. Alok Bishoyi, an accomplished folk dancer and musician, will also receive the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for his contributions in 2023.
Niranjan Rout, a revered guru in the realm of Odissi dance, has been selected for the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for 2022 in the category of Odissi dance. Additionally, Arupa Gayatri Panda has been chosen to receive the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for 2022 in the Odissi dance category.
Recipients of these prestigious awards will be granted a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh along with a 'tamrapatra' and 'angavastram'.
The presentation of the Sangeet Natak Akademi fellowships and awards will be conducted during a special investiture ceremony by the President of India.
