Angul, Feb 27: Tragedy struck at the expansion site of the National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) in Damanjodi, Odisha, as two construction labourers lost their lives in an accident on Tuesday. Another worker sustained critical injuries in the mishap.

The incident occurred when an iron rod fell on the labourers while they were engaged in construction activities at the site. All three workers, hailing from Jharkhand, were involved in the expansion project of the alumina refinery plant when the accident occurred. Regrettably, two of them succumbed to their injuries on the spot, while the third worker suffered severe injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Sama Rajbanshi (41), while the identities of the other victims remain unknown at this time.

Prompt action was taken to transport the injured workers to the NALCO hospital, where medical professionals worked diligently to save their lives. However, despite efforts, two of the workers could not be revived. Currently, the injured worker is in critical condition and is receiving medical treatment.
