Rainfall relief expected in Odisha as IMD forecasts cooler days ahead
Bhubaneswar. Feb 23: A change in weather patterns is anticipated in Odisha starting Friday, offering relief from the intense heat that has gripped the state in recent days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted light to moderate rainfall across coastal districts for the next six days.
Thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rainfall are expected over coastal areas on Friday and Saturday, extending to districts like Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and others. Subsequently, regions including Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Khurda are also poised to experience rainfall, leading to a 2°C to 3°C drop in daytime temperatures over the next week. However, dry weather is predicted for other parts of the state.
Umashankar Das, scientist at the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, highlighted the potential for a significant temperature decrease from Sunday onwards, offering respite from the prevailing heatwave. He also anticipated stable night temperatures in the coming days.
