LaccMi Bus service rolled out across Odisha, empowering communities and driving development

Bhubaneswar, Feb 21: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik unveiled the LaccMi Bus Scheme in Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Nuapada, and Boudh districts via video conferencing on Wednesday.
During the launch, the Chief Minister emphasized the role of Lakshmi Bus in enhancing the effectiveness of social and cultural programs in villages while fostering economic growth. He highlighted the convenience and affordability of Lakshmi Bus for villagers in their daily activities, stating, "Lakshmi Bus will make our life journey easier."
The scheme commenced with 255 buses operating across 1,057 panchayats in the five districts, benefiting over 71 lakh individuals. Notably, Balasore district witnessed 48 buses serving 20.42 lakh people across 315 panchayats, while Nuapada had 25 buses covering 5.74 lakh beneficiaries in 123 panchayats. Boudh saw 10 buses in action across 55 panchayats, benefiting 3.53 lakh people, and Ganjam district had 130 buses operating in 433 panchayats, catering to 34.47 lakh individuals. Additionally, Jagatsinghpur had 42 buses in operation across 131 panchayats, serving 7.50 lakh people.
The rollout extends to all 30 districts of Odisha, with Lakshmi buses now operational. A total of 1,354 buses are currently serving 6,031 panchayats, benefiting 3.64 crore people. The initiative aims to deploy 1,745 buses across all panchayats in the state.
Under the scheme, bus services from the panchayat to the block have been streamlined, with Mission Shakti Mothers entrusted with driving responsibilities. This initiative aligns with the 5T initiative and aims to empower local communities while enhancing connectivity.
