Woman gang-raped in presence of husband and son, main suspect nabbed
Puri, Feb 17: Last night, a horrifying incident occurred in a village under Arakhakuda Marine police limits and Krushnaprasad block in Puri district, where a woman was allegedly gang-raped in front of her husband and minor son. Following the FIR filed, the police have swiftly arrested the main accused and launched a thorough investigation.
One other individual involved in the crime is currently on the run, prompting authorities to initiate a manhunt to bring him to justice. According to police sources, the 25-year-old survivor's husband and his two acquaintances, who are also suspects, had been consuming alcohol near Chilika Lake, as was their custom. A disagreement arose when the woman attempted to stop her husband, leading to an altercation with the accused duo. This altercation allegedly provoked the accused, fueling their desire for revenge.
In a shocking turn of events, the accused allegedly tied the woman's husband to a pole and took her minor son away. Subsequently, they reportedly coerced the woman into consuming alcohol and subjected her to sexual assault.
Acting on the filed FIR, the Arakhakuda Marine police registered a case (No-9/2040) under Section 376 of the DPI Act and apprehended the prime accused, identified as 40-year-old Bulu from Nuapada village. Medical examinations were conducted on both the survivor and the arrested suspect following his apprehension.
