Queue-based darshan system at Puri Jagannath Temple before New Year
Bhubaneswar, Nov 6: The much-awaited queue-based darshan system, popularly known as Dhadi Darshan, will be introduced at the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri before the New Year, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan announced on Friday.
The Minister said the new arrangement is expected to be implemented after the holy month of Kartik, with preparations for its rollout nearing completion. The initiative aims to streamline the movement of devotees and ensure a more organised and convenient darshan experience.
Under the proposed system, eight ramps will be installed to facilitate simultaneous darshan for devotees. The arrangement is expected to accommodate around 10,000 devotees every hour. The queue complex will be established between the Garuda Stambha and Bahara Katha, the outer wooden barricade of the temple.
Explaining the mechanism, Harichandan said the ramps would operate like collapsible bridges. They will be opened during darshan hours and closed after the completion of rituals. The system has been designed with technical assistance from IIT Bhubaneswar to ensure its smooth functioning.
The Minister further informed that the Chhatisha Nijog and the Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee would soon review the proposed arrangements. The system will be introduced after receiving their approval, he added.
