Bhubaneswar, Aug 29: In a shocking incident of alleged domestic violence, a man reportedly beat his wife to death following an argument and buried her body in the backyard of their house at Indipur village under Dhenkanal Sadar police station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Kousalya Pradhan. According to police, her husband, Girish Pradhan, allegedly assaulted her fatally on Friday night following an argument between the couple.

After the alleged killing, Girish reportedly buried his wife’s body behind their house in an attempt to conceal the crime. The incident came to light after villagers reportedly informed the police about the matter.

Acting on the information, a team from Dhenkanal Sadar Police reached Indipur village on Saturday and recovered the body from the backyard of the house. Police subsequently registered a case and arrested the accused husband in connection with the incident.

Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Priyabrata Das confirmed the arrest and said that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death is underway.

Police are now examining the sequence of events leading to the alleged assault and subsequent disposal of the body. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses. The exact cause and circumstances of death will be established through the ongoing investigation and other legal procedures.
