Over 5.61 lakh students appear for HSC exams across Odisha
Bhubaneswar, Feb 19: The High School Certificate (HSC) Examination conducted by the Board of Secondary Education commenced today, with as many as 5,61,979 students appearing for the Class X board exams across 3,082 centres in Odisha.
To ensure smooth and fair conduct of the examinations, authorities have enforced strict guidelines. Mobile phones have been completely prohibited inside examination halls for invigilators and staff. All centres are under CCTV surveillance, while live streaming arrangements have been put in place. A central command and control room has also been established at the Board headquarters to monitor proceedings in real time.
Special provisions have been made for 3,999 differently-abled students appearing for the examinations this year. Ground-floor seating arrangements have been ensured for their convenience. They will receive an additional 50 minutes for each paper and 55 minutes extra for the mathematics exam. Eligible students will also be assisted by helpers with education up to Class IX for writing support.
To curb malpractice, the Board has deployed 37 special squads, while 72 district-level squads led by DEOs are conducting inspections.
The HSC exams are being held simultaneously with State Open School and Sanskrit Madhyama examinations, involving thousands of additional candidates statewide.
