Two arrested after robbery attempt ends in car crash in Balangir
Bhubaneswar, Dec 10: Balangir police arrested two suspected robbers late Tuesday night in Salepali village after a botched robbery attempt that culminated in a dramatic car crash. The men, hailing from Puintala and Deogaon, are suspected to be part of a local criminal network involved in multiple robberies and illegal drug activities across Balangir town.
According to police sources, the incident unfolded when three individuals attempted to rob a resident in the area. A police control room (PCR) van, which happened to be patrolling nearby, noticed suspicious activity and moved in to intervene. Sensing police presence, the three accused quickly tried to flee in a speeding car.
A high-speed chase followed, during which the vehicle lost control and rammed into an electric pole. The impact left the car severely damaged, enabling officers to apprehend two of the suspects immediately. The third man managed to escape in the chaos and is currently being traced.
Police have begun interrogating the arrested individuals to determine their involvement in other criminal cases, including drug trafficking and recent robbery incidents in the region. Further investigations are underway, and more arrests are expected.
