Bhubaneswar, Dec 6: A disturbing incident of matricide has emerged from Malkangiri district, where a 20-year-old man allegedly killed his mother following a heated dispute over her habitual alcohol consumption. The shocking crime took place on Saturday at Badaguda village under Mathili police limits, sending waves of concern through the local community.

The deceased woman, identified as Dane Bhoomia, was reportedly addicted to alcohol and frequently returned home drunk. Her behaviour often triggered quarrels with her son, Matisingh Bhoomia, who, according to locals, had repeatedly expressed frustration over her drinking habits.

Police sources said that on the day of the incident, Dane once again returned home intoxicated, which led to a severe argument between the two. In a moment of uncontrolled anger, Matisingh allegedly attacked his mother with a bamboo stick. The blows proved fatal, and she died on the spot due to her injuries.

Upon receiving information, villagers alerted the police, who promptly reached the scene and detained the accused. A detailed investigation has been launched to determine the exact sequence of events and the factors that led to this tragic killing.
