BJD stages protest at Raj Bhavan over fertilizer shortage in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Sept 15: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) staged a massive protest in front of Raj Bhavan, Bhubaneswar, today, demanding urgent measures to resolve the ongoing fertilizer crisis affecting farmers across Odisha.
According to reports, BJD workers and farmer leaders alleged that despite the state government’s claims of adequate fertilizer stock, large numbers of cultivators continue to face severe shortages during the peak agricultural season. They accused the government of failing to ensure timely distribution, thereby putting farmers at risk of crop loss.
As the protest intensified, BJD leaders, accompanied by hundreds of workers and farmer representatives, attempted to march towards Raj Bhavan to submit a memorandum to Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati. However, they were stopped by police barricades, triggering a brief standoff. Protesters tried to push past the barricades while police struggled to maintain order.
Later, a delegation of senior BJD leaders was allowed to meet the Governor and formally submitted a memorandum, urging immediate intervention.
The party has warned that if the issue remains unresolved, the agitation will be extended to the block level, signaling a larger state-wide protest in the coming days.
