Bhubaneswar, May 1: In a shocking incident, a minor girl was brutally hacked to death inside her house at Karapalli village under Gopalpur police limits in Ganjam district on Thursday morning. The horrific crime has sent shockwaves through the local community.

According to initial reports, the accused, a youth from the Jatni police station area in Khurda district, allegedly harbored an obsessive affection for the girl. He reportedly entered her house uninvited and attacked her with a sharp weapon. The assault left the girl with multiple deep injuries on her hands and body, leading to her death on the spot.

The girl’s family has alleged that the youth had been harassing her for some time and that they had filed a formal complaint with the police earlier, which they claim went unaddressed. They believe the murder was driven by his frustration over the girl's rejection.

Gopalpur police reached the scene and launched a detailed investigation. The accused is yet to be apprehended, and further updates are awaited.
