Hit-and-run leads to major seizure of cash, gold, and silver in Balasore's Gopalpur

Bhubaneswar, April 10: A dramatic hit-and-run incident in Balasore district led to the seizure of significant valuables by Gopalpur police. Acting swiftly after a car chase and collision, police recovered ₹2.4 lakh in cash, 46 grams of gold, and 209 grams of silver from the accident site.
According to reports, the vehicle—bearing Delhi registration number DL 3S CV 1969—was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run case. A group of youths pursued the car following the incident, which ended in a crash at Junia Bazaar under Gopalpur police limits.
The driver reportedly fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle and two other passengers. Police arrived promptly and detained the two individuals left behind.
Gopalpur Police Station IIC Ashok Nayak is heading the investigation. “We are investigating the source of the seized valuables and the events leading to the accident,” he stated.
The identities of those apprehended remain undisclosed as the police continue their inquiry to uncover the motive behind the suspicious transport of the cash and precious metals.
