Man arrested for killing father over drinking dispute in Kandhamal

Bhubaneswar, March 28: Phiringia police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his father with a hammer after a heated argument over his drinking habits and late-night behavior. The tragic incident occurred in Lamapada village under Phiringia police station limits in Kandhamal district.
The deceased has been identified as Dakena Digal, while the accused is his son, Suraj Digal. According to reports, Suraj had returned home late at night in an inebriated state, which led to a confrontation with his father. Dakena reprimanded his son for his drinking habits, angering Suraj. In a fit of rage, he initially attacked his father with a stick, inflicting severe injuries. However, he did not stop there and went on to brutally strike Dakena’s head multiple times with a hammer, killing him on the spot.
Hearing the commotion, Suraj’s mother rushed to the scene, only to find her husband dead. Shocked and devastated, she immediately approached Phiringia police and lodged a complaint. Acting on her report, the police arrested Suraj and recovered the body for further investigation.
