Youth stoned to death in Ganjam; police suspect murder

Bhubaneswar, Feb 10: In a gruesome incident, a 25-year-old youth was allegedly stoned to death at Dolaba village under the Sanakhemundi block in Ganjam district. The incident came to light on Monday when locals discovered his body near the edge of a farmland, while his bike was found lying about 10 feet away on the road.
\Upon receiving the information, Patapur police station IIC Diptri Ranjan Behera, along with a team of officers, forensic experts, and sniffer dogs, rushed to the scene and launched an investigation.
The deceased has been identified as Rajat Goud, a resident of Podamari village. According to preliminary reports, his head was brutally smashed with a stone, leading to his death. The body was sent for post-mortem examination at MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
Initially, villagers thought it was an accident after spotting the abandoned bike. However, after further inspection, they found Rajat’s lifeless body with severe head injuries and immediately informed the police. Given the circumstances and the nature of injuries, authorities suspect it to be a premeditated murder and have intensified the probe to identify the culprits.
