Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj reviewed the sports infrastructure of Kalinga Stadium

Bhubaneswar, 17. 06. 2024- Sports and Youth Services Hon'ble Minister Shri Suryabanshi Suraj visited Kalinga Stadium today and reviewed the sports facilities and infrastructure of the state. Sports department commissioner as well as governing secretary at 10 o'clock in the morning. Vinil Krishna, Special Administration Sachin Shri Arvind Agarwal and other officials of the department were present and welcomed the Sports Minister. Later, the Sports Minister visited various facilities and infrastructure of the stadium.


Sports Secretary Mr. R. Vinil Krishna shed light on Odisha's sporting journey and shed light on the steps, achievements and infrastructure development of the state government in the past years. Minister Shri Suraj reviewed various aspects of sports ecosystem and advised departmental officials to work for the development of sports at grassroots level and overall growth of sports and sportsmen in Odisha.


On this occasion, the minister also reviewed the celebration of International Yoga Day to be celebrated collectively in the entire state on June 21, 2024 To create awareness about yoga and to make it more popular, this program will be organized in major and historical places of the state. Along with this there was discussion about observing in districts, blocks and municipalities.


During this visit, Minister Shri Suraj inspected important sports facilities like Sports Science Center, Khelo India State Center of Excellence, Tennis Center, Indoor Athletics Center, Weightlifting Center, Sports Hostel, Hockey HPC, Aquatic Center, Hockey Stadium, Shooting Complex, Sports Climbing and Gymnastics Center. On this occasion, he discussed with the heads of the sports center and enquired about the training facilities there. On this occasion he enquired the various advantages and disadvantages of the athletes as well as the sports hostel inmates. The athletes also felt very happy to have the new sports minister nearby.


Sports and Youth Services Minister Shri Suryabanshi Suraj informed about his visit and said that Odisha's commitment to the development of sports is evident from its world-class facilities and the success of sportsmen. We will focus more on grassroots level development to encourage young talents and ensure the state's continued success in sports.


Odisha has created a unique identity by performing well at the national level. Infrastructure plays an important role in the development of sports and we have to ensure that it is available at the grassroots level. In 2036, while Odisha is celebrating 100 years of special formation of Odisha, a strategy has been prepared to create a special identity of Odisha in the world sports map. Did a commentary.
