Odisha polls: Rahul Gandhi set to rally Congress support in key districts

Bhubaneswar, April 22: As election fervor intensifies for the upcoming dual polls in Odisha, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is poised to visit Salepur in Cuttack district on April 28, revealed state Congress in-charge Ajoy Kumar on Monday.

"We have urged Rahul Gandhi to conduct campaigns in Salepur, Rayagada, and Berhampur. A large-scale rally is essential in coastal Odisha to bolster party prospects in the imminent elections. We have proposed two potential dates – April 28 and May 3 – and anticipate confirmation by this evening or tomorrow morning," he informed reporters.

Ajoy Kumar further disclosed that they have also approached party president Mallikarjun Kharge to campaign in Balangir and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi in Nabarangpur. Priyanka's visit to Odisha is anticipated on May 6, while Kharge is expected to engage in campaigning for the party on May 7.

Earlier, campaign committee chairman of the party, former Union Minister Bhakta Charan Das, had hinted at Rahul's probable visit to the state coinciding with the birth anniversary of Madhu Babu on April 28. Additionally, the Gandhi scion may venture to Rayagada on May 3 to address a large-scale rally expected to draw 100,000 locals and party supporters, as per Saptagiri Ulaka, Congress' MP candidate from Koraput.

Moreover, Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy is also slated to campaign in the southern Odisha district on May 8 to court Telugu voters. Reddy will address the public during a grand procession commencing from Amalabhata Chhak after paying homage at Maa Majhiriani Temple in Rayagada, Ulaka added.
