Former State Women's Commission Chairperson Jyoti Panigrahi joins BJP
Bhubaneswar, April 15: Former Chairperson of State Commission for Women, Jyoti Panigrahi, and her husband, Saroj Panigrahi, officially joined the BJP at the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar on Monday, nearly a week after resigning from the BJD.
Alongside them, BJD General Secretary Saroj Sahu and Nuapada Biju Yuva Janata Dal President Harish Chandra Panda, who had resigned from their respective positions last week, also joined the saffron party, along with their supporters. The induction ceremony took place in the presence of former BJP State Unit President Samir Mohanty and Kalahandi MP Basanta Panda.
The decision to leave BJD was reportedly prompted by the feeling of being sidelined within the party, particularly for Jyoti Panigrahi, who held senior positions including Senior Vice President of Biju Mahila Janata Dal and Observer of Sundargarh district. Saroj Sahu and Harish Chandra Panda's departure from BJD was linked to their dissatisfaction with the renomination of sitting Nuapada MLA Rajendra Dholakia.
