Rutuparna, Aditya win Utkal Open Tennis titles

Rutuparna, Aditya win Utkal Open Tennis titles

Bhubaneswar: Rutuparna Chudhury and Aditya Satapathy emerged champion of the women’s and men’s singles events respectively in the three-day long All Odisha Utkal Open Tennis Championship, which concluded at Kalinga Stadium here on Sunday.



In the finals, Rutuparna and Aditya edged out Prisha Das and Asutosh Das 6-2,6-3 and 6-0,6-1 respectively. Similarly, Shazfa Wanis and Sai Swastik Mohanty won the U-14 girls and boys title respectively.   


In the men’s doubles final, Satirtha Patnaik partnering Asutosh Das defeated Shimon Shastri and Swostik S Pradhan duo by 6-2,6-4 to win the trophy.



The champion and runner-up of each category received Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively, While the semifinalists and quarterfinalists got Rs 5,000 and Rs 4,000 respectively.



At the closing ceremony Dr P K Pradhan and J Ganta received the life time achievement award. While Prisha Das and Dr Niraj Mishra got the best sportsman sprite and best well dressed player award respectively. Young Balabhadra Behera of the Mendhasala Village adjudged as the most emerging player of the tournament.  


Principal Secretary MSME Saswat Mishra gave away the prizes as the guest of the valedictory function in presence of PCCF and HoFF Debidutta Biswal , Utkal Builders Ltd founder Subhas Chand Bhura , Dr Ritesh Roy, Dr Biswajit Mishra and the members of ACE Tennis Club were present.



Final Results:


Girls u-14 Singles : Shazfa Wanis Sk bt Sanrachana Das 6-4,6-3.



Boys U-14 singles: Sai Swastik Mohanty bt Aahaan Mishra 6-4,6-3.



Women’s singles: Rutuparna Choudhury bt Prisha Das 6-2,6-3.



Men’s singles: Aditya Satapathy bt Asutosh Das 6-0, 6-1.



Men’s doubles: Satirtha Patnaik and Asutosh Das bt Shimon Shastri and Swostik S Pradhan 6-2,6-4.



Senior Men’s 40+doubles: Satirtha Patnaik and Dayal Gangwar bt Vivek Tibarewal and Prasant Patra 6-2,6-2.



Senior Men’s 50+doubles: Dr Biswajit Mishra and Saswat Jena bt Jeeten Mohanty and Snehasish Behera 9-5.



Senior Men’s 60+doubles: Sashank Sekhar Rath and Ajay Mahapatra bt Gangadhar Lenka and V Raman 9-1.
