New Delhi, Jan 13: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, the world's second-ranked men's doubles pair, etched their names in history with a sensational comeback, securing a spot in the finals of the Malaysia Open Super 1000 tournament.

In a historic achievement, their triumph over Korea's Kang Min Hyuk and Seo Seung Jae not only highlighted their resilience but also marked a significant milestone. They became the first Indians in any discipline to reach the final of the Malaysia Open in the Open Era, which dates back to 1983.

Despite facing a challenging situation with an 11-18 deficit in the second game, the dynamic duo, ranked World No. 2, showcased their exceptional form from the previous year, where they had already claimed six titles. Their remarkable prowess on the court was evident as they mounted a comeback, securing a gripping 21-18, 22-20 victory and solidifying their place in the final in a truly emphatic fashion.
