New Delhi, July 22: A fresh political confrontation erupted in Parliament on Tuesday after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of misleading the country's youth and deliberately creating disruptions in the House instead of engaging in constructive discussions on issues affecting students.

Addressing reporters during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament, Pradhan alleged that the Congress leadership was attempting to politicise concerns surrounding competitive examinations, particularly the NEET controversy, for electoral gains. He said the government remains committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in the examination system and is prepared to discuss every aspect of the issue on the floor of Parliament.

The Union Minister claimed that Rahul Gandhi's statements on examination-related matters were creating unnecessary anxiety among students and their families. According to Pradhan, young people preparing for competitive examinations deserve confidence in the system rather than what he described as politically motivated narratives aimed at creating confusion.

Pradhan further stated that Parliament is the appropriate platform for discussing national issues and finding solutions through debate. He alleged that instead of participating in meaningful discussions, the Opposition has repeatedly resorted to protests, slogan shouting, and disruptions, preventing the House from functioning smoothly. Such actions, he said, undermine the democratic process and delay discussions on matters of public importance.

The remarks came amid continued protests by Opposition parties over alleged irregularities in national-level entrance examinations. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and several Opposition MPs have been demanding greater accountability from the government, alleging lapses in the conduct of examinations and seeking stronger safeguards to protect the interests of students. The Opposition has also called for comprehensive reforms and has questioned the functioning of examination authorities.

Responding to these allegations, Pradhan reiterated that the Centre has already initiated several measures to strengthen the integrity of competitive examinations. He said the government is committed to introducing reforms that enhance transparency, improve security, and restore public confidence in the examination process. He added that the Centre is open to suggestions from all political parties if they are aimed at improving the education system.

The exchange between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress reflects the growing political significance of education and employment issues ahead of future elections. While the BJP has accused the Opposition of exploiting students' concerns for political mileage, the Congress maintains that it is raising legitimate questions regarding the future of millions of aspirants.

Political observers believe that the disagreement is likely to dominate proceedings during the remainder of the Monsoon Session, with both sides expected to continue pressing their respective positions.
