Senior BJD leader Debashish Samantaray resigns as senior citizen cell VP, cites ‘humiliating’ designation
Bhubaneswar, Nov 25: Senior BJD leader Debashish Samantaray has tendered his resignation from the post of Vice President of the party’s Senior Citizen Cell, expressing strong dissatisfaction over the recent organisational restructuring and the designation assigned to him. In a candid and sharply worded letter addressed to Leader of the Opposition and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik, Samantaray conveyed deep hurt, stating that being placed “in the rank of Vice President” was both demeaning and humiliating.
He wrote that the new designation did not reflect the decades of loyalty and service he has rendered to the party. “Sir, I doubt that there is any place for loyalists of legendary Biju Babu or your loyalists, who have stood like a rock behind your long and illustrious political career,” Samantaray said in his letter, indicating a sense of betrayal over the party’s internal changes.
Despite his resignation from the post, Samantaray reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the ideals of Biju Patnaik and Naveen Patnaik. He added that he would continue to work as a dedicated member of the BJD. “I will always remain merely a worker of BJD and remain committed to the Biju-Naveen line of thought and action,” he concluded, urging the party chief to take steps to strengthen the organisation.
