Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: In a swift action, Deogaon police on Tuesday arrested three persons in connection with the murder of Sujit Bhoi, son of retired police personnel Minaketan Bhoi, from Antarla village in Balangir district. The incident took place late Monday night behind a kendu leaf depot in the village.

According to preliminary reports, Sujit had been drinking with the accused when an argument broke out, allegedly over an old rivalry. The heated altercation quickly turned violent, and in a fit of rage, the assailants attacked Sujit with a beer bottle and a wooden stick, inflicting fatal injuries. He reportedly died on the spot before any help could reach him.

Upon receiving information, police from Deogaon station rushed to the scene, recovered the murder weapons, and sent the body for post-mortem examination. The three accused were apprehended within hours of the incident and are expected to be produced in court today.

The gruesome murder has shocked the quiet village, with locals demanding strict punishment for the culprits and a thorough investigation into the motive behind the killing.
