Jay Dholakia named BJP candidate for Nuapada by-election
Bhubaneswar, Oct 15: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially announced Jay Dholakia, son of late BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia, as its candidate for the upcoming Nuapada by-election. Jay’s recent induction into the BJP has added a new dimension to the political scene in the constituency, which has traditionally been a BJD stronghold.
According to reports, the BJP’s central election committee approved his candidature, and he is expected to file his nomination papers in the presence of Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and state BJP president Manmohan Samal. Before the announcement, Jay met former state BJP president Basanta Panda to seek his blessings and also held discussions with local leaders, including Khariar NAC chairperson Sonia Jain, to ensure party unity and strengthen grassroots support.
As per the Election Commission of India’s schedule, nomination filing will continue until October 20, followed by scrutiny on October 22. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 24. Voting for the Nuapada seat will be held on November 11, and counting will take place on November 14. The entire election process will conclude by November 16.
