Missing woman traffic constable found murdered, accused confesses
Bhubaneswar, Sept 17: In a shocking development, the mystery surrounding the disappearance of woman traffic constable Subhamitra Sahoo has ended in tragedy. Subhamitra, who had been missing since September 6, was allegedly murdered by her lover, Deepak Rout, an employee at the Police Commissioner’s Office in Bhubaneswar.
According to police sources, Deepak strangled Subhamitra to death following a heated dispute, reportedly linked to a financial matter involving Rs 20 lakh. After the crime, he transported her body in a car from Bhubaneswar and buried it in a forested area of Keonjhar district in an attempt to cover up the murder.
Deepak confessed to the crime during interrogation, admitting that he had throttled Subhamitra. Acting on his statement, police have seized the vehicle used in the crime and dispatched a special squad to Keonjhar to trace and recover the buried body.
Subhamitra’s father had earlier lodged a complaint at Capital Police Station, naming Deepak as the prime suspect. Meanwhile, Commissionerate Police had even announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for credible information on her whereabouts.
Police are now focusing on recovering the body and gathering further evidence to ensure justice for the slain officer.
