Congress prepares for ‘Samvidhan Bachao Rally’ in Bhubaneswar amid drivers’ strike concerns

Bhubaneswar, July 10: The Congress party is set to host its much-anticipated ‘Samvidhan Bachao Rally’ in Bhubaneswar on July 11, with key national leaders including Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge, and General Secretary KC Venugopal expected to attend. However, the ongoing drivers’ strike in Odisha has raised concerns over the turnout and smooth conduct of the event.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President Bhaktacharan Das voiced apprehension that the protest by the drivers could affect the participation of people, especially those coming from rural parts of the state. Despite this hurdle, the Congress is making all-out efforts to ensure the rally’s success.
Das appealed to the Driver Ekata Mahasangha not to obstruct vehicles headed to the rally, assuring the drivers of Congress’s support for their demands. He warned that if the state government fails to resolve the issues, Congress will back the strike at district and block levels.
Das also alleged that the BJP government is deliberately stalling negotiations to sabotage the rally. The party believes the rally will ignite a new political wave in Odisha.
