Bhubaneswar, Feb 17: Commissionerate Police neutralized a notorious apartment burglar, Arjun Anare, in an encounter in the early hours of Monday under Pahala police limits, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, Arjun and his gang were planning a burglary at an apartment in Pahala when they were spotted by Balianta police during a routine night patrol. As officers approached, the gang attempted to flee but was quickly intercepted.

In a desperate attempt to escape, Arjun opened fire on the police from the Balianta canal bridge. In retaliation, police returned fire, hitting Arjun in the leg. While Arjun collapsed due to his injury, four of his gang members managed to escape from the scene.

Police immediately rushed the injured burglar to Capital Hospital, but as his condition worsened, he was later shifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment.

Meanwhile, a massive manhunt has been launched to track down the absconding gang members. Police officials have assured that strict action will be taken against the criminal network operating in the region.
